Susan McDonald steps down as CEO of Active Communities

The founding Chief Executive of Active Communities has announced her departure from the organisation after 20 years at the helm.

Susan grew Active Communities from Jogging Buddies 20 years ago and through the charity, has led a number of life-changing programmes and opportunities across Renfrewshire.

Most recently, she has helped deliver the £2.3million capital transformation of the former police station in Johnstone into our vibrant community hub, Station Seven.

Staff, volunteers, charity partners and many other members of the community who’ve worked with Susan over the years gathered for a special send off at Station Seven which was filled with tears, laughter and lots of wonderful memories.

A spokeswoman for Active Communities said: “We can’t thank Susan enough for everything she’s done. She’s made a huge impact in Renfrewshire and we’re proud to be continuing what she started.

“She’s assured us she won’t be a stranger, so we look forward to welcoming her along to some of our groups!”
